Cha-Cha-Cha-Changes.......

"Turn and face the strain, cha-cha-changes....Oh, look out you rock & rollers...cha-cha-changes...."

My restaurant has been bought out as of 2pm today. They claim to be keeping the personnel. It's a good bet they will, but I can't be so pompous as to think 100% they will keep me. Although, I think they will. But maybe not. Can you tell I don't want to jinx myself? Say a little prayer for me and remember that I will always remember you. And will be searching for a live WiFi I can steal from my car that I will be living in. If I am let go. Which I really don't think I will. Unless the new owners are stupid people. Which they aren't. I don't think.

I will be so glad when I know what's what....

Dave and then some....

If you are a Dave Matthews fan, you will appreciate this: Tim Reynolds and Rashawn Ross on stage with Dave for the duration. They didn't just post for a song or two. Hands down the best Dave show I've seen.

I'm tired, sun-burned, and maybe still a little drunk from the pre-party. (I never drink During the show. I might miss something.) But, we did start at 4 to get the best parking. I'm safe in Alexandria now and have to get up early to co-host a baby shower tomorrow. I will seriously pay someone, anyone $5,ooo.oo to do it for me. Seriously. Call me.

I hate to be the one to tell you....

but...the whole Southern thing....it's a ruse! A diversion! To get what we want! Which is: To take over the world! One nice deed at a time!
_____________________

I had someone tell me today in the course of conversation that he believes the whole "Southern Thing" is just a Guise. The manners, the hospitality, the etiquette as a whole; if you will...is all meant to portray an ideal of a certain group of people that isn't real.

Needless to say, I took exception to that. I took exception to someone essentially telling me that (he believes) everything I've learned at the knees of my kin is bullshit. Learning to respect my elders, learning good manners, learning that you have to work for what you want, and learning to keep your mouth shut as not to insult the person you're talking to!

Obviously; he doesn't Get It.

God Bless Simba

I had to put my cat down yesterday. Her name was Simba and she was really awesome. She had cancer and I decided not to pursue treatment based on her age. I knew about 6 months ago that I was just going to wait for a sign. When she woke up yestereday, she couldn't walk. That was the sign. It was really hard to take her in; but I know in my heart that I did the best thing.

See you on the other side, Darlin'!!! You were the best Kitty!!!

Karma's a Bitch

The Sox kinda showed their ass last night and paid for it tonight. Shut out by the Mariners. Who were 15 (15!) games behind in the West division. It's all true. You make your bed. You pay the piper. Day-ummm!! It's like being the Hulk and being bitch-slapped by a 6-year old Catholic school girl. A 6-year old with no agenda.

Please offer up a prayer for the SCUBA Diver's that are missing in Bali. It's possible that they may have made it ashore to a nearby island. Very scary stuff. All are seasoned diver's, so we are hoping for the best.

THE DIVERS PRAYER
Almighty God, Our Heavenly Father, we, who descend into the depths of the seas, beseech Thee to protect and guide us inYour Aquatic Kingdom. We pray that Thee can find a worth in those who search the waters of the Seven Seas to increase the knowledge of man, to seek and understand the vast mysteries of our past as well as that abundant world which lives below the surface of the water, and to enjoy this new found world and all it has to offer. As we small people work below , Dear God, watch over us and help us to return safely to our earth-world. But, Heavenly Father, should we perish in this watery-world, we beg that Thee will forgive our earthly sins, cleanse our hearts and souls, and lead us to Thy Celestial Kingdom to serve Thee forever and ever. Amen

Prayer taken From Skin Diver Magazine as quoted in Underwater Work (published 1959. )

Deliver me from evil...

I took this job almost 4 years ago because (1) I was looking for a change, (2) I'm really into Sports, (3) I knew I would make very good money. Going into this job; I was a pure Football fan. College & NFL. I paid attention to other sports just because I admire Athletes. I know all the rules of Football. But, I may not understand all the rules of Basketball, Baseball, Tennis, Golf. I admire Athletes that are good at these Sports. And I like watching them do well.

I never in my wildest dreams thought that I could become a full-on baseball fan. The sport has always seemed too slow for me. But, here I am. A Bartender in a Red Sox bar that has become a total Red Sox Fan. And they totally recruited me. It took a couple of years, but now they have me checking stats, watching the whole games (not just checking in 9th inning), and being able to actually Name Names! Geez!! What's next? Booking a hotel room for Spring Training??? I have determined that Baseball is way too much for me. It breaks my heart when the Sox lose & I'm too freakin' cocky when they win. When a sport has over 160 games in a season; that's alot of up's & downs.

Damn. They got me. I love that muddy water!!

ps...I met a very nice guy today. I got his number.

The Saga continues...

In keeping with tradition; there was a skirmish tonight during the Sox/Rays game. I'm sure you saw or have already heard if you have any interest in MLB.

The Rays swept the Sox during their last meeting. Suffice to say; tensions were high when the Rays came to Fenway for this series. They were ahead by half a game. Coco Crisp may or may not have slid hard into a baseman on Wednesday night. Who's to say what a hard slide is? :) The person doing the sliding or the person being slid in to? Tonight, during the second inning, Crisp was hit by a pitch from Shields, threw his bat down and charged the mound. What came after was plain fuckin' mayhem. Coco came at Shields ready to throw a punch, Shields threw first, Coco ducked then grazed him with a really cool punch. Players cleared the benches. Then it was all grey and white all over each other. Crisp WAS on the bottom of a pile of Rays with them all pummeling him in the head. That is a definite. I think I saw Francona on the top of the pile trying to pull people off of him. I need to see more footage.

And if that's not enough; (And I'm ashamed to say) Ramirez and Youkilis got into a fight in the dugout later in the game. They had to be held back from each other. I still don't know what that was all about. We'll probably never know unless one of them chooses to tell in the umpteen interview questions that are going to come up about it.

The whole game was tension a foot thick. I watched it all and it seemed that half the pitches (from both sides) were intended to hit. Some "flopping" goin' on as well. I was just happy when it was over. I can watch a train wreck for only so long.

End of the day; Sox take it 7-1. Don't know how I feel about the win, but reality is: It's one out of 160+ games. No-one will remember this come Monday.

Well, Bless my soul!!

Sitting at the Fantasy Football Draft table last year; all the boys groaned when I drafted T.O...They jeered. (I kinda like that they forget I'm a girl during Draft.) A couple of the guys threw things at me for drafting such a loose trigger. He helped me to finish 3rd in my league. Thank you very much. Dallas seems to like him as well. They gave him an extension.

___________

Commissioner Goodell apparently wants Dallas to pay hard for T.O. being given an extension. He has decided that Pac-Man should be allowed into the playground. He is now allowed to practice with the team. Now, I'm not saying that one has to do with the other; but, I find it all very suspicious. It's no secret that T.O. is not Goodell's favorite boy with a ball. It's going to be very interesting to see how this all plays out. On the field. And that's assuming that Pac-Man ends up getting to play. T.O. is going to be sassier and Pac-Man is going to want the limelight. That's his MO. Stay tuned to this story.......

___________

Damn...can you believe that football season is still 3 months away???

___________

On a happier note, Sox beat the Rays!!! Yes!! Now we're just a 1/2 game back! I know, I know. If I watch the stats everyday; I'll drive myself crazy. But, ya know what? I watched the stats everyday last year and wore my pink Sox hat on Tuesdays and my blue Sox hats on all the other days and we won the freakin' World Series!!! Talk to me about superstition later!! And we can only have that talk on a Sunday at 10:28p while I'm wearing my pink hat . I love that muddy water!

This photo is by a photographer named Paul Popper. I tried to find a web site for him; but was unsuccessful. I find this picture hauntingly beautiful. It speaks and is one of my favorite photos.

Go Manny!!

I'm sure you've all seen that my Manny hit the 500 HR Club. That pitch was nuts...but he got it off the ground. Thank you very much to all the people that contributed to http://www.youtube.com/ . Otherwise, I would not have had near the enjoyment that I did watching that last pitch from ump-teen different angles.

In the aftermath, I cleaned up my courtyard today. Mainly because I wanted to and kinda because my neighbors wanted me to. Their courtyards are pristine with little fountains and stuff. My courtyard is "Landscaped", but, "Overgrown". My courtyard is the way it was when I moved in. The shape that it was in was not from my negligence. At least, the first 4 layers of leaves weren't from my negligence. In either case; I donned a bandana on my head (biker-like) and raked and bagged that bitch within an inch of it's life. I put lots of Roly-Poly, Cricket, Earthworm familys out. I mean, OUT! As in; pack your bags! At least the birds still love me...they have lunch for a week.
